A STUNNING knock of 127 from professional Martin Van Jaarsveld helped Enfield to the top score of the weekend as they realised 293-8 against Church.

Despite a seemingly impossible target Church made the home side sweat.

A string of batsmen kept the pace of the chase going with Alec Holt hitting 64, Phil Sykes 38, Mark Aspin 36 and Mark Higgs 21, but the innings was concluded at 260 - late bowling change Keith Barker making the difference as he gained three victims for 38.

Rudolph made 44 as Lowerhouse's managed to make just 164 all out.

The Nelson batsmen then took over with opener Paul Garaghty making an impressive 70 not out.

He received good support from opening partner Colin Pemberton, who notched 60, as they put on 161 to take Nelson to within four runs of victory.

The winning runs were duly knocked off by professional Joe Scuderi.

The pair put the stand together over just 20 overs with Austin belting his 88 off just 65 balls, including three sixes and 12 fours, while Knowles plundered his 89 off 72 balls with 17 fours.

The margin of victory was 106 runs with professional Michael Clarke in strong form as he scored 83.

He received good support from Nick Riley, who notched an unbeaten 57, as Ramsbottom eased their way through to 222-4.

The response from East Lancs was shortlived as Mark Price got to work taking 7-25 as the reply came to a rapid end at 116.

Burnley's surge continued at Colne where they ran out comfortable victors - their fifth successive win.

Professional Pierre Joubert perished for 96 off the last ball of the Burnley innings, but by then he had helped to take the total to a formidable 248-7.

He was given great assistance by Gareth Halley who smashed 45 in 39 balls - a knock which included five sixes!

Colne opener Jeff Ellis hit 57 and Gary Hunt 27 but after their departures the Colne innings fell apart.
