AN EAST Lancashire comedy club promises to double the laughs in September when it puts on two shows a month.

Lock n Load Comedy Club, at Wharf Waterside Bar, Blackburn, will host the two nights from September 7 on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

The first gig -- on Saturday September 7 -- has a full programme of comedy headlined by Baddiel & Skinner warm-up man Alfie Joey and starts at 8pm.

The launch coincides with a new look website and the promise of higher profile shows at bigger venues with priority seats for Lock n Load regulars.

Martin Cassiday, the club's resident compere, said: "Now we have seen that there is an enthusiastic audience for what we're doing we can let this thing of its leash. Unfortunately, the move to Saturdays has meant that we have had to raise the door charge to a fiver to account for higher fees for acts on weekend gigs.

"Saying that we'll be doing our best to offset the increase for regulars with two for one drink promotions and priority bookings for our bigger gigs."
