A FUNDRAISING night to raise cash towards a medical bill of almost £120,000 has been rearranged.

Susan Wilson had planned to hold the event, which will also raise money for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Magic Eye Scanner Appeal, on August 17 but cancelled it after her mother Phoebe Morley died.

The 76-year-old was being treated at Blackburn Royal Infirmary after being flown back by air ambulance from America, where she was diagnosed with cancer.

Her family has been landed with a medical bill of £114,502 after her insurers refused to pay out as Mrs Morley had not revealed she had treatment for gallstones before her holiday.

Daughter Susan, of Pendle Drive, Blackburn, had organised a charity night at the Stop and Rest pub in Brandy House Brow, to help raise money towards the bill and the Magic Eye appeal

But after Mrs Morley died on August 6 the event was put on hold. Susan said she was now determined it should go ahead and has pencilled in a date at the end of September.

She said a number of local companies had donated prizes for a raffle including a signed football from Blackburn Rovers.

Meanwhile Mrs Morley's husband Peter has been discharged from Blackburn Royal Infirmary. He was taken ill following the death of his wife.
