BURY FC website manager's Save Our Shakers exploits have earned him prestigious international recognition.
Uefa bosses have decided to give Gordon Sorfleet a "Europe's Biggest Fan" award and the fanatical father-of-four today jets off for a swanky dinner in Monte Carlo to receive his accolade from soccer legend Pele.
Over the past year the 38-year-old has helped raise £60,000 via the club's internet site, vital funding that helped to keep the cash-strapped Shakers afloat and it's that work that is being recognised.
"I've never won anything in my life before so this is extra special," said Gordon. "My mouth dropped when I read I'd won - I thought there had been a misprint. But this honour is as much for the fans as me."
