AN unbeaten knock of 84 by Mavla helped Leyland cling on to a draw against Motors in the derby match on Monday.

Kahn, with 5 wickets for 60, had put Motors in with a chance of victory as Leyland chased a target of 180 but they were denied by the last wicket pair.

Earlier Khan had top scored for Motors with a score of 92.

In another tight game Preston were beaten by two wickets at St Annes after scoring 183 with Akbar top scoring 62. Parekh and Khan shared the wickets for Preston taking 5 for 51 and 5 for 36 respectively. Two days earlier Parekh had helped Preston secure a five wicket victory over Fleetwood, taking 8 wickets for just nine runs, as they skittled the opposition out for just 55.

Leyland managed only 58 against Blackpool on Saturday as they fell to a five wicket defeat with Marcus Sharpe doing the damage taking six wickets for 12 runs.

Motors were beaten by three wickets by Netherfield after scoring 181 with the help of a score of 71 not out by David Makinson.

The weekend's results leave Motors and Leyand proping up the Northern Premier League table with Preston in sixth place.
