A NEW business ideas competition for technology entrepreneurs has been launched.

It is being organised by the North West Development Agency's TEChINVEST service and E-Synergy and the objective is to identify the greatest commercial potential for a North West team or individual interested in raising equity finance.

In partnership with TEChINVEST, E-Synergy is launching a new investment readiness programme for businesses with new technology.

This forms part of the pilot scheme sponsored by the Small Business Service to develop the readiness of small firms to receive external equity investment.

The UK is a creative source of new science and technology but technology entrepreneurs often lack business skills, contacts and finance to exploit their ideas successfully.

The winner of the competition, to be announced in October, will receive a £5,000 cheque, admission to the investment readiness programme and the TEChINVEST service and a private session with renowned venture capitalist Jon Moulton.

Competitors are requested to provide a 1-3 page executive summary of their ideas in confidence. For further information, telephone the TEChINVEST team on 01925 400301 or e-mail to techinvest@nwda.co.uk or contact E-Synergy on InvestmentReadiness@e-synergy.com. Deadline for entries is September 25.
