JOHN Lund is the undisputed king of stock car racing after winning the world formula one title for a record eighth time.

The Clitheroe dairy farmer shrugged off the challenge of 28 top drivers from Britain, New Zealand and Holland to take the chequered flag in an action-packed final at Coventry's International Motor Speedway.

Pre-event favourite Frankie Wainman Junior, from Steeton, near Keighley, was eliminated from the 25-lap race in a controversial accident with Manchester's Rob Speak, who went on to finish second.
