CHIEF Executive of Lancashire County Council Christopher Trinick has written to the Parish Clerk confirming he is checking up on the position with regard to traffic calming in Worsthorne and will write again soon.

Speeding is a major factor in a third of all road crashes causing 1,200 deaths on the roads last year. Seven out of 10 drivers regularly break the speed limit. At 40mph 17 out of 20 pedestrians hit by a car are killed.

COUNCILLOR Ken Smith has contacted the Bus Company to complain about the number of buses which fail to turn up in the village and has been told it is due to manpower shortages.

COUNCILOR Jane Ingham has resigned as a Parish Councillor due to increasing commitments at work. A letter of thanks for her work on the Parish Council has been sent.
