REGARDING Eileen Bridge's complaint that Hyndburn Labour councillors were reneging on their commitment to oppose care home closures (Letters, September 24), it is true that many made promises in the May elections on this subject.
But it is now September and perhaps concern for their expense accounts and threat of action if they rock the New Labour boat have seen commitments fade.
My advice to Mrs Bridge is for her and her colleagues to stand on this issue in the May elections in 2003 and let the public know they've been hoodwinked.
