A PROPOSED housing development in Colne could be given the go-ahead this week after planning officers put it forward for approval.
McDermott Developments Ltd has applied to develop almost one hectare of existing residential land at Hillcrest and to the rear of The Rough, in Castle Road.
A 1920s house has already been demolished to make way for the part of the development that recently obtained planning permission for nine houses but now the company intends to build 14 detached houses with garages.
Five letters of objection have been submitted to the council on the grounds that healthy trees would be lost, there would be an increase in traffic and an invasion of privacy.
But members of the Colne and District Committee have been recommended to approve permission subject to 19 conditions, relating to design and layout details, a landscaping and parking scheme and details of traffic calming.
