LEIGH Harriers' cross country stars scored an hat-trick of individual victories and two team firsts in the South East Lancs League at Oldham.

North West Women's League champion Gemma Farley added the league title to her tally after winning the U15 two mile course in 12min 26sec.

Adele Swanton stormed to her first league win of the season completing the demanding U17's four mile course in an impressive 20min 59sec.

Tom Boardman showed outstanding form easily winning his first U17 league four miles race of the season in 19min 25sec.

The team awards went to the U15 and U17 girls, thanks to the help of Rebecca Howarth and Emma Morris who finished third and seventh respectively in the U15 event and Amanda Fernley (2nd), Lizzy Heaton (4th), Emma Tongue (6th) and Yasmin Foulds (7th) in the U17s.

The boys' U17s squad took runners-up spot. Behind Tom, scorers were Alex Urmston (6th, 21min 28) and Andy Edwards (10th, 22min 58).

In the U15 boys' two miles Mike Goddard, who won the league's overall title, finished third in 11min 19sec followed by Tom Henderson 9th (12.03) and promising new boy Luke Hodson 10th (13.06).

The girls' U13s, over a mile and a half, saw cold sufferer Lauren Howarth battle hard for fourth place crossing the line in 9min 43sec. Hannah Warburton took 5th in the same time and Kirsty Hogan clocked 18th in 11min 18sec. In the boy's group Isaac McCann finished sixth.

The ever-improving Marjorie Leigh took on a field of 50 senior ladies to finish second over the four mile course in 23min 14 sec.

The six miles men's race saw John Howarth finish 16th (38.04), Andy Arnold 28th (39.58), Keith Boardman 41st (42.12) and Dave Helps 44th (42.36).
