A SUCCESSFUL 125th Anniversary year reached a climax on Sunday when Tyldesley Brass Band, with conductor Steven Booth, performed their Christmas Concert.
A packed audience at the Formby Hall, Atherton enjoyed as selection of popular Christmas melodies including Sleigh Ride and The Snowman, followed by traditional carol singing.
Soloists were Lesley Taylor and Michael Marsden on cornet. A tenor horn feature 'Hat Trick' was performed by Simon Jones, Andy Harrop and Steven Humphries. Eight cornetists skilfully imitated pealing bells in the beautiful melody Cornet Carillon.
Long service awards for 25 years in banding were awarded to Steve Gaskell and Glyn Griffiths and Graham Walker received an award after handing up his mouthpiece after 20 years with the band.
