NINE members of the Blackburn Community Badminton League have undertaken a training course to enable them to coach fellow players.

The coaching course took place at Shadsworth Leisure where budding coaches were put through their paces by a top tutor.

Jane Bridge of the Badminton Association of England and tutor on the course said, "It just goes to show that coaching is not about your playing ability. Coaching is about coaching skills and people skills. They did well."

Henry Ramsey, manager of active coaching project based in Blackburn with Darwen's sport development section, said,

"They are all scholarship candidates for the project and will be giving time as volunteer coaches with children and adult beginners when the league starts again this winter."
