NEW sporting facilities at Firs Park are under threat from the teenage drinking classes.

The cold snap has led to underage topers trundling off numerous wheelie bins left outside surrounding homes to burn for camp fires.

These have been set close to the new all-weather football and basketball pitches the hard working Park's User Group have fought so hard to obtain for the children in the area. I'm told the number of thefts over the past few weeks has gone mad. Eight bin fires were reported in the park in just one week.

That's disgraceful. Once again it's a case of the few ruining life for many.

So far the new multi-thousand pound pitches have escaped damage, but it would help allay any fears if residents would take in their bins immediately after the collectors have been round.

Speedy action to remove them could prevent the theft and mess left behind by the thoughtless gangs who use the park for the wrong reasons.
