BURNLEY'S Blow The House Down night is set to make a welcome return this Christmas. Held for the first time back in February, after the success of packing nearly 300 fans into the Keirby Hotel, organisers have finally got round to doing it again.

Returning to the same venue, but with a new line-up, organiser John Yates described the event as a mini festival to raise public awareness of the local music scene.

And although it's Manchester band Beecher who headline the night, it really is the trio of local groups that catch the eye.

Raucous skate punk outfit Crowbar Smile have been busy in the recording studio and will be airing their new material.

Working in an Essex studio with producer Mark Dahorn -- best known for his early work with Slade and more recently Cradle of Filth -- they have finished an EP that is set for release early next year.

Complemented with the equally aggressive style of Missed Her Bliss, at the other end of the musical spectrum is Pendle's excellent Transelement.

Formerly known as Element, the trio are an experimental outfit fronted by Jay Stansfield who seldom hold onto a set list for more than six months.

Blow The House Down 2 takes place on Saturday December 28 with doors open from 6pm til 2am. Admission is £4 with a ticket, or 5 pounds on night.

Tickets are available from Electron records in Burnley.
