RAMSBOTTOM A completed the first half of their Bury Table Tennis League season pretty much as they began it with a 10-0 victory over their own C team.

They have only dropped six sets in eleven matches and are deservedly on top of Division One.

Playing 'catch up' are Little Lever who themselves had a 9-1 win over Ramsbottom B but are a massive 11 points adrift and Cricketers who after their 6-4 victory over Ramsbottom D are nine points behind Little Lever.

This leaves Ramsbottom D without a victory in the league and at the bottom of the table below the other promoted team St Philips A, who this week lost to Location for whom Graham Jeffries and Richard Simmons both scored trebles.

George Brennand scored three wins for YMCA A against Mosses A and even though his team lost 6-4, those four points kept YMCA just out of the relegation zone. Another player to score three wins and yet finish on the losing side was Simon Abraham of Prestwich whose team also lost 6-4 to Carlton Club A.

DIVISION TWO

Mosses B, consolidated their position at the top of Division Two after their 9-1 victory over Adelphi whilst their rivals -- Seedfield A, Carlton Club B and Ramsbottom E -- all dropped points, all winning 6-4 over St Philips B, Prestwich B and Carlton Club 6 respectively.

David Poytress for Seedfield and Phil Holmes for Ramsbottom both scored three wins but finished on the losing side.

The other match in this Division also finished 6-4 to Maccabi A against Prestwich C with Jeff Ingber keeping his joint leadership of the Top Ten Tables with three wins.

DIVISION THREE

Claybank at the top of Division Three had a free week which allowed Unsworth and ELPM A to move closer to them in second and third position after they both had 8-2 victories -- ELPM A over BGSOB A and Unsworth over Carlton Club D.

David Jackson and Chris Sutcliffe both won three for Unsworth with Steve Greaves and Gerry Faulkner both scoring trebles for ELPM. They are now three and four points respectively beind Claybank.

Wayne Ellis scored three for Red Hall as they beat Maccabi B 7-3 and the remaining match in this Division ended in a draw with Alan Crompton of YMCA B winning all his sets against Prestwich E.

DIVISION FOUR

Seedfield B have only dropped 10 sets all season and have opened up a gap of 25 points at the top of the league.

Two of their players lead the Top Ten Table -- Julian Nuttall unbeaten on 27 wins and Stephen Siddall who has won 22. Both of them, together with Andrew Hamilton, won all their sets in the team's 10-0 victory over Holmar A who are down at the bottom of the table with their B team.

Elton Vale B are in second place after their 8-2 win at home to Maccabi D and Maccabi C are in third position closely followed by ELMP B and BGSOB B.

It doesn't look as if anyone can catch Seedfield but all these four teams could be fighting for second place at the end of the season.

DIVISION FIVE

Seedfield D took full advantage of Prestwich Fs free week and moved to the top of Division Five after their 10-0 victory of ELPM D.

Although Prestwich F are the only unbeated team in the Division they are two points behind the leaders at the half way point of the season.

Elton Vale C moved into third place after their 6-4 win away at BGSOB D with Alan Fletcher scoring three wins for Elton Vale. Marc Sheldon and Michael Kintish both score three for Maccabi E in their 9-1 win over Seedfield Meths F but Seefield Meths E did better with a 6-4 victory over Holmar C.
