PROUD parents were left deflated after parking attendants pounced during a school's annual prize night.
Scores of drivers were booked after leaving vehicles on a grass verge outside Bury Grammar School for Girls in Bridge Road.
Other motorists were ticketed for parking on zig-zag lines during the event on Monday evening.
Acting head teacher Lynda Billinge said: "It seems such a shame. It is right that there is no parking on either side of the road during the school day because it would be dangerous.
"However, it has always been an unwritten agreement that parents could park outside on speech nights because in the evenings this is a very quiet road."
Council parking manager John Foudy said: "These cars were parked in contravention of a traffic regulation order. If drivers feel they have grounds for appeal, they should in the first instance contact National Car Parks."
