HELP is at hand in Accrington this Christmas for those who need medical treatment over the holiday period.
The minor injuries unit (MIU) at Accrington Victoria Hospital will open for normal working hours over most of Christmas and the New Year.
The MIU, which is usually open 9am to 9pm, will close at 6pm on Boxing Day and New Year's Day and will close on Christmas Day.
Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Trust said it was pleased to be offering the service.
Dr Stephen Morton, director of public health and health standards, said: "We recognise that some health problems can increase over the Christmas and New Year period and would advise local people to take simple steps to reduce risks.
"In particular we would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to drink sensibly, drive carefully, keep warm and keep active, but be careful if it's icy."
