NICKED! That was Skerton County Councillor Nike Penney as she was unceremoniously hauled off in police custody last week.
But the sudden 'arrest' of the chairman of the county council was all in a good cause.
Cllr Penney was nicked at County Hall and dragged to the dungeons of Hoghton Tower until £ 500 could be found for her release.
She was charged with ' enjoying her year in office too much', with bongo playing and tribal dancing at a recent reception for the Gulu community used as evidence.
The money raised from her arrest - and the incarceration of several other prominent Lancashire citizens - will fund the Royal National Institute for the Blind's home video service, which provides descriptions of facial expressions, movements and scenery to allow blind or partially sighted people to enjoy films.
Cllr Penney says: "The county is very proud to contribute to the development and expansion of such a useful service.
"By joining in with the recent fundraising, we hope it will be possible for the RNIB to provide descriptions for even more films."
