ANDY LAWSON may be offered the Colne manager's job full time.

Lawson has been in charge along with Dean Grice since former manager John Lister resigned last month and will continue to run the team over the Christmas period.

Just a fortnight ago, Lawson ruled himself out of the running for the job, saying he didn't have the time he needed to commit himself fully to the task.

But after Saturday's 5-0 drubbing of Daisy Hill, he may have changed his mind.

Player-chairman James Webster said: "Andy will be in charge for the next three or four games over Christmas and if he does well we may offer it to him full time.

"He mentioned after Saturday's game that he might be interested so we'll see."

Webster said things had improved all-round at the club in the last few weeks.

"Last week it was a bit more like we want to play. It was probably the best we have played this season.

"And it is down to Andy. He has stepped up training, we are doing more running but the lads don't mind because we are getting results. Confidence is high. We went on our Christmas do on Saturday and there was a real buzz about the team."

Lawson, who is just 28, said: "It has gone well so far. We have won two out of three and we are playing well.

"I have been out injured for three months and I want to get back playing so whether that will affect my chances I don't know. It is harder work than I thought but Dean helps.

"Things had gone a bit stale before but there's a buzz about the place now and another few wins and we could be comfortably mid-table."

And he said he wasn't worried about the possibility of having the chairman as a member of his first-team squad.

"In the dressing room, Webby is just another player," said the former Burnley, Clitheroe and Padiham player. "But he has done so much to raise the profile of the club since he took over."

Colne are away at Cheadle Town in NWCL Division Two tomorrow.
