I WRITE regarding the front page story (Dec 13) headlined: "Driver in tree fall terror".
Anyone reading the article could be forgiven for thinking that the fire brigade was the only emergency service in attendance; in fact, due to the severity of the incident, two paramedic ambulances and a Rapid Response car with paramedic also attended.
We all worked together to release the casualty from what was left of her car, with the firemen using cutting gear, and myself and colleagues administering medical aid and immobilising the casualty on a longboard. Traffic police ensured that the scene was made as safe as possible. All ambulance personnel appreciate the good work done by the fire service but it would be nice if Bury Times readers could be reminded that they have a first-class ambulance service in Greater Manchester to deal with emergencies of all kinds.
Unfortunately, due to our heavy work load, it is not always possible to contact the press to give our version of incidents such as this one.
JIM SEYMOUR, paramedic,
operational supervisor.
