REGARDING a new operator "muscling in" on the popular 346 bus route from Accrington to Darwen (via Blackburn town centre), which traditionally has been run by Blackburn Transport, I have used this route for several years and I have always been impressed by the standard and quality of the service provided by Blackburn Transport.

Gimmicks such as cheaper fares and running a couple of minutes in front of the established service provider may well secure the "new kid on the block" some easy short-term profits, though I must warn them that their days are numbered.

How can they compete with the new state of he art "Easy Access" fleet with which Blackburn Transport is now servicing this route? How will their service compete when put to the test over the busy festive period, or when the bad weather arrives?

No, there is only one choice for me -- I shall be sticking with Blackburn Transport with it's strikingly liveried "superfleet," which is staffed by equally well-turned-out and well-mannered operators. Hats off to whoever took the brave decision to purchase these wonderful new vehicles, and I only hope that it encourages a few more people into using public transport in the future.
