COMMUNITY members in Whitebirk are celebrating after improvements have been made at two previously derelict sites.

Money from Barclays SiteSavers has been used by Groundwork Blackburn to carry out the environmental improvements at the Delph Lane Community Garden and Westbury Gardens to make them cleaner, safer and more attractive to local residents.

And now residents are toasting the improvements with seasonal celebration events at the Westbury Gardens Church today.

John Harkness, Youth and Community Project Manager for Barclays SiteSavers, said: "The money provided by Barclays has given us an opportunity to revisit the gardens and carry out essential work and maintenance. The seasonal activities with the young people are to celebrate the completion and use of Westbury Gardens and Delph Lane."
