BURNLEY have signed a French defender ahead of tomorrow's game with Ipswich Town at Turf Moor.

Drissa Diallo has signed a one-month contract after receiving international clearance.

Burnley boss Stan Ternent completed the signing late yesterday afternoon.

The 30-year-old has been playing with Belgian club KV Mechelen.

He has been at the club for the last four seasons, where he has been a regular, playing in nearly 100 games.

It was at Mechelen, where he played alongside current Portsmouth defender and Australian international Hayden Foxe.

The club is now in liquidation, which saw Diallo arrive in England for a trial, despite being contracted until 2005 at the Achter De Kazerne.

Despite holding French nationality, Diallo was born in Nouadhibou in Mauritania.

The club has given him squad number 3 at Turf Moor.
