BURNLEY MP Peter Pike met with bosses from Burnley and Pendle Transport to discuss the problem of people being stranded at bus stops.

The move comes after a review was ordered into the operation of Burnley's multi-million-pound bus station after complaints from councillors and passengers.

People have reported being stranded at bus stops, asked to get off buses before the end of journeys and buses failing to appear. The issue has been discussed by members of Burnley Council's executive, who are now monitoring services and the management of the bus station, off Centenary Way. After meeting with Burnley and Pendle Transport operations director, Russell Revel, Mr Pike said the bus company was actively looking into the problem and taking positive steps. He said: "There has been a huge improvement in passenger numbers and reliability since the station opened in August.

"Things have improved since Burnley and Pendle Transport took over from Stagecoach."
