PLANS to extend the back of a cottage in Shaw Terrace, Main Street, Grindleton, have been withdrawn in the face of objections from the local parish council and a number of nearby residents.
Ribble Valley planning and development committee heard the property was a former weaver's cottage and historically unique.
Grindleton Parish Council had objected to the scheme on the grounds it would destroy the cottage's character.
Nine nearby residents claimed the proposed extension would ruin a row of country cottages and dominate neighbouring properties.
Planning officers had recommended refusal but told the meeting that the plans had been withdrawn.
