DRAMA coach Carol Godby, known for putting many a youngster on the path to stardom, has stepped out in front on the cameras to star in a new Channel 4 series -- Wife Swap!

Businesswoman Carol, who runs the popular Carol Godby Theatre Workshop in Bury, volunteered for the fly-on-the-wall documentary where women were asked to leave their home and move in with a stranger for a week.

The series was aired for the first time on Tuesday. The married mum of two, who lives in Whitefield, said: "I was really worried when I found out what the series was going to be called, but the name is just to get viewers' attention. The series is about changing your domestic situation for another."

Carol volunteered to take part in the series after being approached by the makers of Channel 4's Faking it.

And last June, Carol moved in with Heywood man Barry Seaborne, while Barry's wife went to live with Carol's husband.

"My family were very worried at first. I had no idea who I was moving in with until the start of shooting. I was given a key to a house and that was it. The life I led was so different to what I used to. Barry loved horse racing and was used to having everything done for him. He thought I looked after my appearance too much.

"There are scenes with me cleaning up dog dirt in my glittering boots!"

She added: "It was difficult at first with cameras following you around everywhere, but when filming finished it was odd not having them around."

Since appearing on the programme, Carol has been approached by a daily newspaper to do it all again and get paid for it.

"I turned it down immediately," said Carol. "I'm glad I did it, but never again. I don't understand how people can do Big Brother. At least I could leave the house and see my friends. It was really difficult living in a different situation -- and I could have no contact with my family."

She added: "My reason for taking part was to publicise the theatre workshop, which it has. And Barry's stepson, Stephen, has joined the theatre workshop." Viewers can see Carol's seven days of "domestic bliss" next Tuesday.
