A FATHER-to-be who set off at speed with police in pursuit after they tried to stop him in Earby in the early hours, kept his freedom.
Christopher John Ibbitson, 21, who abandoned his vehicle and ran off, later told officers he didn't stop because he had no tax disc on his car, Burnley magistrates heard.
Ibbitson, then of Oak Street, Colne, admitted dangerous driving, no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, no test certificate and failing to stop when required by a constable, on February 18, 2001.
He was given 60 hours community punishment and banned from driving for 12 months.
