A PLAN to cut crime by targeting dimly-lit 'hotspots' across the district has been giv-en the go ahead.
Yorkshire Street in Morecambe and Rye-lands footpath and Willow Lane in Lancaster are set to benefit from the £320,000 scheme.
The idea is to use lighting as 'natural surveillance' to give people extra confi-dence when out and about.
Studies show that this kind of scheme can reduce crime rates by 14 per cent
County Cllr Nora Ward says: "It is vital we do everything we can to make people feel safe in their communities and give potential crim-inals fewer chances."
