CLASSIC World of Fitness first squash team started the second half of the season with an excellent win over previously unbeaten division leaders Moss Side.

Mike Howard played first and in a close five setter narrowly lost 3-2 mainly due to uncharacteristic inaccurate shots.

Tod Bulmer, after losing the first game 9-0, really showed his mettle, fighting all the way to a 3-2 victory. Howard Thornley showed what an asset he could have been to the team in the early part of the season, his 3-0 win not reflecting how tight the game was.

Graham Collier drew the short straw at number one meeting an opponent unbeaten throughout the season. Collier lost 3-0. With the match balanced at two-all it was up to Mark Taylor to decide the result. This he did in fine decisive fashion, winning 3-0. A well deserved 16-8 win for Classic 1.

The second team, playing away to Ellesmere, started well with Lynda Gregory pulling back a 2-0 deficit to battle it out all the way to a 3-2 victory. Dave Hollingworth was never allowed to settle into his normal running game, losing 3-0. Vic Moses in a hard fought see-saw battle came away with two hard earned points, narrowly losing 3-2.

Graham Draper comfortably took the first game but couldn't maintain the flow against a determined opponent and lost 3-1.

Dave Haines, playing at one and up against an opponent who took every ball early, did nothing to improve to points total for Classic, losing 3-0.
