DRISSA Diallo was set for talks with Burnley today as the club seeks to secure his longer term future at the club.

Chairman Barry Kilby confirmed this morning: "We will be meeting the player and his agent and we have a number of options that we want to give him.

"Included in that is a long term deal but there will be decisions that the player himself will have to consider.

"We are ready to make him an offer but the main thing is that we can confirm we want him to stay beyond the initial one month that he has been with us and we have until Friday to sort it out so that he can play at the weekend."

The 30-year-old defender was released by Belgian club Mechelen after they went into administration at the end of last year and he has impressed in his time at Turf Moor, even earning praise from Stan Ternent after the 5-2 defeat by Reading at the weekend.

The manager has admitted he is keen to make him a permanent addition to the squad and his future was discussed at the monthly board meeting at Turf Moor yesterday afternoon.

At that meeting the board also considered the future of Marlon Beresford who is just days away from ending his fifth month long deal at Turf Moor.

"We have made Marlon an offer of an extended deal in the past and we would like him to sign on," he said. "Ideally we would like to get away from the situation where he just signs for a month at time and we will be talking to him again."

Meanwhile a number of the players in the first team squad will be keeping a close eye on the weather in the next 24 hours.

This morning the pitch at Turf Moor was covered in snow casting some doubt over whether the reserves match against Bury tomorrow evening will be able to get the go-ahead. The weather forecast says it is expected to remain cold for the rest of the week and so there must be a possibility that the game will be postponed.
