POLICE are urging people to play their part in helping to cut car crime.
The move follows a recent increase in the number of thefts from vehicles, many of were left unlocked or with valuable items on view.
Laptop computers, mobile phones, wallets and bags are amongthe items favoured by thieves but police are warning car owners not to leave any valuable items on display.
Chief Inspector Richard Morgan, from Pennine Police, said: "We are stepping up patrols in affected areas across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
"Our officers are doing everything they can to try to trace the offenders but we can't tackle this problem in isolation, we need the public's help too.
"Insecure vehicles or vehicles containing valuable items like phones, computers, bags and wallets are simply too tempting to thieves who can strike in a matter of seconds."
