POLICE are warning villagers in Edgworth to lock their vehicles after two cars were stolen in two days.

A Citroen was taken from Bolton Road on Monday and another car went missing from the area yesterday morning.

Police sergeant Anne Scott said: "People have been putting their keys in the ignition to de-ice their cars, then going back inside for a cup of tea, leaving their cars unlocked.

"People have to be aware that there are always opportunist criminals about and they will spot the open car and take it.

She warned that some insurance companie would not pay out if the car was unlocked when it was stolen.
