MAY I inform Terry Sanderson, of the National Secular Society (Letters, January 28) that in Lancashire we have had churches and chapels like Christ Church, in Nelson, for hundreds of years, built by our ancestors.

They are still an integral part of life for very many people in Lancashire and we certainly don't need London-based fringe agitators to try to stir up trouble in our communities.

Mr Sanderson should stay down there. I think there are enough problems in London for him to sort out before inciting trouble here.

F HOLDEN (Mr), Hall Park, Haslingden.
