CONGRATULATIONS to the South Ribble and Lancashire County councils for creating another smouldering mess on our roads.

The roundabout in Lostock Lane where the A6 meets the slip roads to the motorways must be one of the worst designed and ill thought out in the country.

I am sure that with a little forethought the planners and consultants should have been able to judge how much traffic there would be and where most of it would go and com from.

Also the exit to turn west from the South Rings Business Park is more than ridiculous, it is utterly stupid and that is putting it mildly.

The exit is about 20 yards to the left of lights controlling traffic coming out of Cuerden Way and from the east, then when the lights change to allow you to leave, you can't because the road has filled up with traffic which cannot get through the roundabout a hundred yards away.

To build what is to become a giant shopping and business park with hardly any means of getting off it, the hotel that is planned for the site should make a fortune.

One word of praise! The park and ride at the Capitol Centre is a good idea, and no moans about the extra lights in Victoria Road to allow the buses in and out. But could the lights at the bottom of London Way and the centre be co-ordinated as they are causing tailbacks as early as 7.30am.
