FORGOTTEN man Martyn Forrest was back in the Shakers starting line-up at Hartlepool on Friday and he aims to stay there writes PHIL THORP.

Midfielder Forrest started the season as first team skipper but a run of bad form resulted in him slipping out of boss Andy Preece's plans and eventually left him struggling to get a place on the substitutes bench.

But what goes around comes around and "Fozzy" clearly relished his first senior outing since November against the legaue leaders.

"I thought I did alright," he said, "Although I felt my final ball let me down at times.

"Obviously it was disappointing to be out of the side but the gaffer picks the team and all you can do is work hard in training and the reserves.

"He's given me my chance again and hopefully I've grabbed it.

"While I was out of the team there were a couple of whispers about me going out on loan but nothing materialised.

"I'm looking for first team football and hopefully I can keep my place for the rest of the season."

And according to boss Preece he certainly did himself no harm at Victoria Park.

"Fozzy came in after being out for a long time and put in a good performance.

"I thought he and George Clegg did a good job on Mark Tinkler and Tommy Widdrington in midfield."
