JIMMY Clarke reckons his players should have fresh legs for their trip to Glossop North End tonight.

Ramsbottom's joint manager says some players have been suffering from stiffness as they cram in their remaining games.

But a break at the weekend has given the walking wounded time to rest.

"We've had a complete break," Clarke said.

"We were going to play a friendly against Hyde but they cancelled. We probably wouldn't have been able to play anyway with the weather.

"But we were going to use that game to give some of the players who have been on the bench the chance to play 90 minutes.

"As it was we all had a rest, and I think the lads will have benefited from the break.

"They haven't been carrying knocks as such but some of them have been feeling stiff with the games coming thick and fast."

Clarke added that he would be expecting a tough game for the Rams tonight.

"Glossop are a hard working team and like to get the ball forward as quick as possible," he said.

"They are pretty tough in the tackle as well so we're expecting a hard game, and it won't be pretty either.

"They are in the relegation zone and fighting for First Division status, so it won't be a game for the purists."

While neighbours Rossendale have been busy in the transfer market, Clarke said no-one was on their way in or out of the Riverside.

"Nobody wants to leave," he said. "They want to stay and fight for their place, which is very good news from mine and Andy Grimshaw's point of view."
