ANOTHER Atherton sub post office is to close.
Wigan Road Post Office shuts on Wednesday, April 9 just three weeks after Hindsford office shuts its door for the last time next Monday evening.
Eddie Herbert, the Post Office's area head, said: "A declining number of customers, increased running costs and the prospect of even less business when benefits payments are transferred from passbooks to bank accounts, prompted the sub-postmaster to want to leave at Wigan Road.
"Atherton Post Office in Market Street and Hindley Green (Atherton Road), are both within 1.1 miles of Wigan Road and can cope with the extra business."
