MORE injuries, a sixth successive away defeat and another goalkeeping blunder all added up to a miserable Easter Bank Holiday for Burnley boss Stan Ternent.

Both Drissa Diallo and Dimitri Papadopoulos went off in the first half, the latest additions to the ever growing injury list at Turf Moor, and as the French defender limped away from the City Ground he admitted: "That is my season over."

Ternent admitted: "Losing Drissa was a massive blow given the other injuries we have got, but to be fair they are all genuine. It is difficult for us in a number of ways.

"Drissa went off with the hamstring injury he had before but he was playing two games in 48 hours. Maybe that was the cause of the injury and in an ideal world, with any other available men, I might not have played him. But no one else is close to coming back.

"Dimi had the problem with the hip that he got at Portsmouth and at the moment everything has gone a bit pear shaped."

But he sought to look for the silver lining that was once again offered in the shape of the promising young teenage pair of Richard Chaplow and Matty O'Neill.

"I thought the kids did smashing," he said. "The young lads have not surprised me and because we are sitting on 55 points it is a good opportunity for us to look at them.

We will have to look at them again because we have not got anyone else available."

Chaplow missed one of two golden chances for the Clarets to take the lead in he first half, shooting wide after creating an opening with some sublime skill.

The second good opportunity was missed by Ian Moore who failed to score on his return to his former club, and he confessed: "The chance came on to me too quickly," as he headed the loose ball on to the bar after Gareth Taylor had clashed with Forest keeper Darren Ward.

"To be honest, I headed it too well. If I had slightly fluffed it then it would go in but my contact was too good.

"What has happened this season is that when we have taken the lead against teams, we have gone on to win. The problem has been that if we have gone behind, it has then been an uphill task."

But Moore was full of praise for 18-year-old Chaplow as he said: "Chappy has done really well, I have been very impressed. When you are at a club you are never sure how good the young players are but he has done well and it was so unfortunate he didn't hit the target after creating a chance with some great skill."

Forest have all but secured their place in the play-offs.
