I, ALONG with most pensioners, have been rocked by the massive increases in rates.

While pensioners scrape to pay the latest demands, the County Council spends as if there was no tomorrow and Fylde has increased its take by 24per cent in two years.

In spite of this we have Councillor Henshaw standing for Fylde (in addition to his wife) and also standing for a Preston County Council seat.

Why not go for a Euro MP seat as well?

If this is not jumping on the political gravy train then what is? Is this one of the councillors responsible for that 24 per cent rise in Fylde rates?

This is clearly not in the interest of the ratepayers who want someone to represent their view all the time, not have divided time and loyalties.

At a time when the Fylde Council should be fighting for the people of St Annes to keep county expenditure down, how can someone with such a clear conflict of interest represent the ratepayer adequately? The answer is I believe he can't.

I hope that come polling day people will reflect on this type of cynical greed and vote accordingly.
