WHILE Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls are slugging it out in the Powergen Challenge Cup Final at Cardiff, Leigh Centurions' squad will be putting their feet up.

And they have the full blessing of head coach Paul Terzis who has given all his senior players a week off as a reward for their efforts in recent weeks.

Through to the last eight of the Arriva Trains National Cup and top of the National League One table with a 100 per cent record, Leigh have achieved virtually everything they set out to do at this stage of the season.

"The only downside so far was the Challenge Cup defeat at Featherstone. We had hoped to make a greater impact on that competition," says Terzis. "But otherwise I feel things are coming together quite well now."

"Since the hiccup at Chorley a few weeks ago we have double our efforts and I'm very satisfied with what we've done over the last three games."

The players won't report back for training until next Tuesday when the preparations start in earnest for the tricky away game at Batley on May 4.

Heavy schedule

"They've earned the short break," Terzis says. "The training sessions have come thick and fast and then we had two games in four days. Such a heavy schedule takes its toll.

"A few days off will give the players time to recharge their batteries."

The week off will also help long-term casualties Neil Turley (ankle) and Rob Ball (shoulder) who will be that much nearer recovery by the time Leigh are in action again.

Top try scorer Damian Munro, who missed both Easter games after damaging his back at home, and the suspended Dale Cardoza will both be available for the trip to Mount Pleasant.

The Under 18's Junior Academy take on Keighley at Hilton Park this Sunday, kick off 4pm. Admission £4 and £2.

The Centurions will face Featherstone in the Arriva Trains quarter-final at Hilton Park on May 18.
