EAST LANCS set a limited overs club record of 300 runs as they brushed aside LOWERHOUSE at Alexandra Meadows.

Andy Clague smashed eight fours and two sixes on his way to a quickfire 61 from just 70 balls, while Paul Turner needed only 48 balls to reach his half-century.

Professional Johann Louw added a steady 58, while Phil Mercer became the fourth player to pass the 50-mark, hitting five fours along the way.

Lowerhouse new boys Kamran Farooq and Qasim Ali took three wickets each.

In reply, Chris Bleazard reached his half-century, but then the rain took effect.

Lowerhouse's target was reduced to 265 from 42 overs, then 256 from 40, but the rain finally stopped play with the visitors on 142 for two, when it should have been 211 to win.

Even the best efforts of substitute professional Adnan and bowler Ibra Ali failed to spare TODMORDEN from a defeat at RAWTENSTALL where the home side won on run-rate after a reduction in overs due to delays for rain.

Adnan, standing in for Indian international Gyandera Pandey who should join the Centre Vale club on Tuesday after a final meeting with immigration authorities to secure his visa to enter the country, gave Todmorden a strong start as he knocked 65 not out.

However, support with the bat was in scant supply and all Rawtenstall's bowlers contributed good spells with Andrew Payne producing the best figures with four wickets for 21 runs from his 12 overs.

While there was no outstanding innings in Rawtenstall's reply everyone contributed as delays saw the target lower and, despite Ibra Ali's stunning effort of claiming five victims for 38 runs, the home side got home with three wickets to spare.

NELSON professional Joe Scuderi has quickly got into his stride this season and was central to his side's three wicket success at CHURCH.

Scuderi and opener Paul Garaghty shared a 121 runs stand, compiled in 94 minutes, as Nelson set 198-7.

Former Lancashire star Scuderi top scored with 79 and Garaghty hit 55, while Church professional Greg Mail claimed three wickets for 31 and John Seedle four victims for 64 runs.

However, the Church reply never got off the ground as only two players reached double figures as they were bowled out for 61.

COLNE were always in control against ACCRINGTON, helping themselves to 12 points.

The visitors lost professional Andre Seymour for a duck, and never really recovered, although Matt Wilson and Adam Greenwood made useful contributions.

The Colne attack of Gary Hunt and Ben Higgins proved too strong as Accrington were bowled out for 153.

Higgins found just as much joy with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 88 to lead Colne to victory with nine wickets in hand.

ENFIELD sub professional Nick Trainer looked a classy act as he hit a century against HASLINGDEN to lead his side to a 10-point victory.

Haslingden never matched that pace and finished 19 runs short, Steve Dearden top scoring with 52.

RAMSBOTTOM beat RISHTON on run rate in a rain affected match.

Professional Rob Nicol was the pick of the bunch for Rishton, scoring an excellent 93 as the visitors set a target of 179 for a Ramsbottom win.

Fellow professional Jason Arnberger took three wickets and was equally impressive with the bat, hitting 92. Ramsbottom made it to 168 or two when the heavens opened, and that was enough for victory on run rate.

BACUP also won on run rate against BURNLEY, although their victory was soured when John Chapman was hit in the face with the ball. He missed Sunday's game with a cheekbone injury.

Professional Shaun Young drove Bacup to a mammoth 260 for 4 with an unbeaten knock of 116, and Burnley were never at the races.
