LEADER of Burnley Borough Council Stuart Caddy was on hand to answer questions from residents when he attended the monthly meeting of Cliviger Parish Council on Friday at the Village Hall, Holme.

Councillor Caddy spoke about the borough development and community plan. He also answered questions from those present and assured councillors of his support for the Cliviger Challenge.

PLANNING permission was considered for installation of aerial netting at Deerplay landfill site. Concerns were raised about the construction of support pylons, which are already in place and their effect on the landscape. It was also stated that rubbish which becomes caught in the netting would cause considerable noise nuisance to close residents.

A letter is to be sent to Lancashire County Council raising the concerns and councillors will make a site visit.

A LETTER of resignation from Councillor I Nicholson had been received and a letter of thanks will be sent to him for his time as a councillor. The vacancy will be advertised.

A FUNDING bid is to be made to the Burnley Borough Council Capital Opportunities Fund, to provide signs and benches within the parish.

THE Annual General Meeting of the Village Hall Committee will be held in the hall this evening, starting at 7.15pm. All users of the hall are welcome to attend.

A POSITIVE response has been received so far to the phase one publicity for the Parish Plan and arrangements are made for the launch, on Saturday, May 10. It will take place at the Village Hall between 11am and 3pm. Burnley Borough Council are providing a mini road show and there will be environmental and community groups stands.
