LANCASHIRE seem to have lost that winning habit. If you go back 10 years we won from all positions, some of them the most ridiculous positions you've ever seen.

Winning does become a habit, and it's very easy to keep going once you're there - it's just getting there from the start of the season which is the hardest part.

I feel that the two overseas players will make a significant impact on the team.

The way one-day cricket is going at the moment, like the championship, anyone can beat anyone on the day.

You can have two people who play well and take the game away from you.

Mal Loye has been a good signing, and I would have liked to have had him there probably three years ago.

He is a good player who has made a strong start for Lancashire which will do him the absolute world of good. Hopefully it will do the rest of the team the world of good as well.

As a bastman he likes to get big runs, he doesn't make 100 then lose his wicket, he goes on to make big hundreds. He is an attacking batsman, but at the same time there should be no pressure for him to do it all.

Australian Stuart Law has got off to a good start, Iain Sutcliffe is fairly new to the side and has had a good year so far, and hopefully Alex Swann will have another cracking season, backing up his performance's last year.

A lot of the team played well last year, especially some of the new faces, and the second year is usually 'find out' time.

If Lancashire want to do well this season then the first four or five batsmen need to get some decent runs, and as long as the likes of Warren Hegg, Chris Schofield and Glen Chapple chip in with 20's and 30's then they can be a formidable opponent on the day.

In the last week two of Lancashire's games were rain affected but we can't blame the weather, because we had the chance against Surrey after being in a commanding position and didn't take it.

Then we come up here and the rain set in, it's just one of those things, they just have to accept it and get on with it.

The side need to make the most of games like the one against Surrey, they need to capitalise on chances.

They have a good bowling attack. When Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh comes over then he will be a massive plus for the side. The pace attack is very good, so bowling sides out shouldn't be a problem - the Red Rose just need the top four or five to get some runs.

The team to watch again this season I feel will be Surrey.

They are a great side, who have won the championship the last few seasons. If you look at the team on paper, the batting line-up is awesome. As a team they score big runs and put opponents under a lot of pressure.

If you get the runs on the board in the first innings then you will always be in command of a game.
