CLITHEROE face a tough trip to early table toppers Settle on Saturday in the Jennings Ribblesdale Cricket League.

The Chatburn Road side lie fourth and just three points adrift of the leaders. They could have closed the gap on Settle last weekend after dismissing Cherry Tree for 145, only for the game to be abandoned.

It's second-top versus bottom as unbeaten Blackburn Northern travel to lowly Whalley, who are yet to win a game.

Baxenden play host to Great Harwood when Baxenden professional Jonathan Harvey will be hoping for more of the same. The opener, and team captain, smashed an impressive 124 against Earby, but was not backed up by the rest of the side, as they made only 180. It was another game affected by the weather and Earby were run-rate victors.

Great Harwood lost to Settle, despite a good bowling display from Russ Whalley, who ended with figures of 3-11. Both sides have yet to pick up league points so something must give this weekend.

Fresh from beating champions Read, Barnoldswick will hope to embark on a winning streak when they entertain Padiham. A last over hat-trick from Michael Scothern was enough to snatch the points, while Padiham won a high scoring encounter with Oswaldtwistle Immanuel after reaching 253-7.

Oswaldtwistle go to Cherry Tree hoping to pick up their first points of the season, while Cherry Tree had the match with Clitheroe abandoned after Robbins had made a useful 41.

Read will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they face struggling Edenfield, who had the weather against them last weekend after setting a decent total of 183.

Ribblesdale Wanderers entertain Earby, with both teams going into the game with confidence after winning their respective games last Saturday.
