WALKERS who took part in the six-mile round trip to view the Forest of Burnley project were met with grim weather on Sunday morning but by the start of the walk at 2pm the conditions were brighter.

The crowd of people led by Woodlands officer Keith Wilson saw parts of the area they did not know existed before returning to the car park after four hours.

It has been suggested that this event be extended to take in the changing seasons and be more widely publicised.

THE gateway at Whitegate Nursery will be extended to enable parents to wait nearer the nursery in safety.

ANYONE who wishes to object to the demolition of 19 and 21 Cliff Street and 22 Dean Street, Padiham, have until May 19 to object.

DISCUSSIONS are under way by the Padiham Life Group, led by Paula Smith, to decide which project they will pursue next. The decision will be publicised as soon as possible.

PADIHAM'S library is to extend it's opening hours. There will be no lunchtime closures and the facility will stay open until 7pm on Thursdays and 1pm on Saturdays.

PADIHAM Youth Centre is open every Friday from 6.30pm-8pm for eight to 13-year-olds. Football, games and music are available all for 20p.

HAVE a foot-tapping time at Padiham Town Hall on Saturday, May 10. Dancing takes place from 7-10.30pm, with no age limit, and costs £3.

THE bowling coaches Alan Dewhurst and Eddie Fyldes will be present at the Bowling Green tonight to give tuition to adults. The session starts at 6.30pm, refreshments are provided and all this is free.

THE next meeting of the Parish Council is on Tuesday at 7pm and is the AGM. Items on the agenda include the appointment of chairman and vice-chairman.

There are currently vacancies on the council and these will be discussed.
