FYLDE rugby club members have agreed to a £3 million plus deal which secures its future.

The club will sell 2.8 acres of land to a housing developer, in a deal which will wipe out its £700,000 debt and leave cash in the bank.

The second team pitch will be taken over by an as yet unnamed company, which will build a flats and housing development for which outline planning permission has already been given.

A special general meeting this week voted unanimously in favour of the deal, and also approved a slimming down of the club's committee system.
