GARY Keedy was set to play his first game of the season at Lord's today as captain Warren Hegg asks his Lancashire side to flex their championship muscles.

They are looking for their first championship win of the season when they take on Middlesex at the home of English cricket.

Although Lancashire are yet to lose, Hegg feels that they could have had better rewards in the first two games of the season.

He said: "Frustration is not quite the right word, but we are disappointed to have two draws.

"The weather affected them both and we felt we could have won them.

"Now we are into our third match and a win would leave us in a very good position at this stage of the season."

Keedy has been unlucky with injuries, first hitting his hand in a pre-season fielding mishap and then suffering a back spasm.

But in the absence of the injured Harbhajan Singh he has the chance to make an impact over the next four or five weeks.

Harbhajan has been ordered by the Indian authorities to stay at home until the wear and tear injury to his finger has fully healed.

Despite their efforts to sign West Indian star Carl Hooper as a short-term replacement, Lancashire insist that they will wait for Harbhajan and that he will be playing for them some time next month.

Until then, Keedy will play a key role in the championship side, although veteran off-spinner Gary Yates has re-established himself in the one day line-up.

Jimmy Anderson and Andy Flintoff were set to make their last appearances for Lancashire for some time as they hook up with England.

The national selectors will be watching Anderson closely over the weekend to see how he copes with the famous slope at Lord's, where he is likely to make his Test debut against Zimbabwe on May 22.
