A VILLAGE'S own Billy Elliott will star in the Three Towns Operatic Society's latest production.

Creative Culcheth schoolboy Ben Warbis, 14, will design and perform his own movement routine as Bacchus, the god of wine and revelry, in Orpheus in the Underworld.

Ben is no stranger to the world of dance. He is a student at the Kathleen Atherton Academy and has been awarded a scholarship with The British Ballet Organisation in London.

Another young star taking his first principal role for the society is Edward Magenty.

Concorde may have been grounded but the group has its own supersonic equivalent raring to go.

He said: 'It's exhausting being required to fly to all parts of the globe at a moment's notice but every day is an adventure and you keep up to date with all the latest gossip!"

As a student at Leigh St Mary's RC High Edward played Sir Roderick Murgatroyd in the school's production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore, Jack Point in the Yeomen of the Guard and Scrooge in Christmas Carol.

Orpheus in the Underworld runs until Saturday at Lowton Civic Hall, curtain up 7.30pm. For tickets ring 01942 883722.
