A LOST elderly whippet picked up by a pet charity in Git Pit village last month has been reunited with his owner -- thanks to the Journal.

The brindle dog, nicknamed Scally, who was fostered by Lowton couple Arthur and Angela Gore, is actually called Jip and is 14-years-old.

He had been missing for four weeks and his now back home with his owner, Kenneth Pasquill, in Astley Street, Tyldesley, and his Patterdale terrier pal who had been fretting.

For the Leigh and District Branch of Petsearch (UK) who cared for the perplexed pet, Margaret Andrew, said: "As a result of the article in the Journal a delighted owner and an ecstatic dog were reunited -- and the owner kindly left us a donation."
